Manipal
Manipal (maṇipāl) is a locality of Udupi city, located 7 kilometres from centre of Udupi City in Karnataka, India and is administered by the Udupi City Municipality. It is located in the part of Coastal Karnataka, about 63 km (39 mi) north of Mangalore and 8 km (5.0 mi) east of the Arabian Sea. From its location on a plateau, it commands a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea to the west and the Western Ghats to the east.
Home to the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, the town attracts over twenty five thousand students every year.[1] It is one of the most cosmopolitan towns of India, attracting students and faculty from around 60 countries.[2] It is called the campus town by the locals.[3]
Manipal is also the international headquarters of the Syndicate Bank.[4] A regional information technology hub, Manipal has one of the highest densities of mobile phone users in India.[5]
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE)
In 1953, T. M. A. Pai founded India's first private medical school, Kasturba Medical College,[6] and five years later the Manipal Institute of Technology was formed. Ramdas Pai took over the management in 1979 after Pai's death. Initially all degrees were awarded by Karnatak University Dharwad and later Mysore University. From 1980 to 1993 they were awarded by Mangalore University. The current organizational structure was formed in 1993, when Manipal Manipal Academy of Higher Education was accorded deemed university status by the University Grants Commission.[7] Manipal Academy of Higher Education is certified as an ISO 14001:2004 organization.[8] In 2007, it rebranded itself as Manipal University.[9] The legal name remained the Manipal Academy of Higher Education.[10] In November 2017 the UGC requested to drop the word "University" from the name[11] and the institute went back to its former name.
Manipal Academy of Higher Education is synonymous with excellence in higher education. Over 28,000 students from 57 different nations live, learn and play in the sprawling University town, nestled on a plateau in Karnataka’s Udupi district. The University has off-campuses in Mangalore and Bangalore, and off-shore campuses in Dubai(UAE) and Melaka (Malaysia). The Mangalore campus offers medical, dental, and nursing programs. The Dubai campus offers programs in engineering, management and architecture, and the Melaka campus offers programs in medicine and dentistry.

Kasturba Medical College, Manipal
Kasturba Medical College, Manipal (KMC) is a medical college based in Manipal, Karnataka, India. Established by T.M.A. Pai on 30 June 1953,[2] KMC was the first self-financing medical college in India. Today, students from 44 countries have graduated from KMC, and the medical degree (MBBS) is recognized worldwide, including by the General Medical Council, ECFMG, Australian Medical Council and Malaysian Medical Council among several others. KMC, Manipal was ranked fourth among medical colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings for Universities in India, announced by the Union HRD Ministry in New Delhi on April 3, 2018. It is one of the premier medical Colleges in the country. KMC was under the purview of the Mangalore University. In 1993, the government of India granted Deemed University status to Manipal University(formerly known as MAHE) which saw KMC coming under its wing. KMC has exchange programs with Loma Linda University, United States, Operation Eyesight Universal, Canada, Dundee University, Dundee, Scotland, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, United States and Maastricht University, Netherlands.It is recognized as top 10 medical universities in India.

Kasturba Medical College, Manipal that was started in 1953 had offered MBBS Course. Currently, the institution, besides the undergraduate medical course leading to the award of MBBS degree, is also conducting various postgraduate medical courses in various disciplines and super-speciality courses leading to the award of M.Sc., MD, MS, DM, MCh qualifications.

Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, is a constituent college of MAHE, Manipal (formerly known as Manipal University), which is a deemed to be university recognized by University Grants Commission under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956.
The entire campus of Manipal University, including KMC, Manipal is spread over an area of over 600 acres and offers all the facilities, to the students and the faculty, that are conducive to learning, including museums, library, skill labs, sports grounds, gymnasium and international level indoor multi-purpose sports complex, wi-fi facilities on the entire campus, e-learning facilities, online library access, hospital and emergency care facilities, counseling for students, teacher-guardians and inter and intra disciplinary research facilities to hone the research skills.
Kasturba Hospital, Manipal:
Dr TMA Pai established the Kasturba Medical College at Manipal on June 30, 1953. Once the college came into existence, there was a need for a teaching hospital that could provide clinical facilities to students. In 1960, that long felt need was fulfilled when the Medical Relief Society of South Kanara joined hands with the college in setting up a hospital in Manipal. Kasturba Hospital started in May 1961, with 150 beds. Today, Kasturba Hospital has 2032 beds.
The hospital is fully equipped with state-of-art diagnostic and therapeutic departments to facilitate treatment of a wide range of medical and surgical diseases. It is well equipped for advanced and sophisticated surgeries such as coronary bypass and open-heart surgery as well as kidney transplantation. The 280-bed cancer research hospital is located adjacent to the main hospital.
The hospital caters to a large number of people from Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, etc. In addition to providing health care in the normal course, the hospital also provides special health care schemes like Medicare and the Manipal Health Plan. Kasturba Hospital has been providing yeoman service to the people for nearly five decades in the fields of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. It is accredited by NABH.
